“The Newsmast Foundation is an educational charity, supporting the use of social media for good. We’re at the forefront of new, open social media”.*

I joined the founding team as Newsmast was working on it’s MVP for an open-source social network based on the Mastodon protocol.

My responsibilities spanned product, marketing, operations and everything in between, helping take us from zero-to-one.

During my time at Newsmast:

• Launched product across 60+ online communities, leading a team of 30 graduate researchers and managing external contractors and agencies.
• We transitioned from private ownership after being granted Charitable status by the UK Charities Commission - and launched our Foundation Website.
• Directed go-to-market (GTM) strategy including creating processes and launching social media, performance marketing, and CRM functions.
• Created new processes across all areas of the project, including the use of AI to increase efficiency, performance and creative output supporting our smaller team.
• Managed development teams, set product roadmaps, and led the launch of mobile and progressive web applications, positioning the platform for long-term growth.

Today Newsmast has continued to grow, with Artur Ekert as Trustee, and continues launching new features and standalone products inspired by the technology underpinning the platform, including Patchwork and Channel.org.
